TeamSpirit Sheffield Junior Sharks South Yorkshire Sport: ‘Club of the Year 2006’
Club of the Year 2006
Junior Shark's David Ransom receives Club of the Year awards from Darren Pass (Brightstar Creative) and Coach Tony Minnichello.
At the English Institute of Sport on Oct 25, the TeamSpirit Sheffield Junior Sharks were awarded the much coveted ‘Sports Club of the Year Award’ for outstanding performance in 2006. The Junior Sharks had an unprecedented successful season with 4 teams reaching the National Final Fours, where the U15s and U16s both reached the Final. Not only was the club successful in developing elite players throughout all age groups, the club sustained player development by having a total of eight National League team across all Junior Age groups (13-18) and had many players in secondary schools in the city and the region, with Myrtle Springs winning the Y10 National Schools Championships.  Every summer, the Junior Sharks open their doors for new aspiring players, and the club’s excellence in all age groups is testimony that the development of players is at the heart of the club’s vision.

Loraine Gayle is looking to host a girl's U13 CVL in Sheffield on a monthly basis between Oct and Apr. If you are interested in playing in the league please complete the attached form and return it to me by Thurs 28 Sept.
Please click on this Link
I am hoping that we can build a successful competition this season in order that EB can integrate U13 girls into the NBL competitive structure and look to develop further CVLs/triangular tournaments in different regions. If you know any other club or teams who may be interested in entering a team
please feel free to pass the information on. Please note that players may have to be licensed with EB in order to play in this league (relevant forms will be available at the CVL), the cost of this will be approx £2 to £5 depending on the age of the player. Any player already in receipt of an U14 NBL licence (playing up for their club) do not have to register again.

If you require any further information please do not hesitate to get in touch. - LG

Basketball CVLs - Proposed Structure from Loraine Gayle Basketball Development Officer
Activity Sheffield (Leisure Services)

Attached is the proposed schedule for a local competitive structure, please complete the table to give me an indication of which leagues you are intending on entering and how many teams in which league. As this is a proposal I would appreciate any relevant comments in the end box relating to
that particular league as this will help to assist me in finalising what competitive provision we need to prioritise.
Due to the tight timescales (an October start!!) please return the information to me by email or fax (0114-2735504) by Thurs 21 Sept.
As promised at the last South Yorkshire Meeting, I have applied for funding from EB to support this structure and develop the leagues, but the outcome of the funding is not yet known. However, in order to receive this funding one of the critieria is to ensure that all players are registered with
either EB or the Yorkshire Region (Cost £5.50) which will also provide player insurance cover. Any players already in receipt of an EB NBL players licence for 06/07 (EB membership) do not have to register again.
Sheffield City Council has now employed a Basketball Community Coach who will be working alongside me and able to assist with some elements of this competitive programme.

LG :-)
