Yorkshire Basketball League Constitution

 

1. TITLE : The League shall be called the YORKSHIRE BASKETBALL LEAGUE hereinafter referred to as the LEAGUE

2. MISSION : The League shall promote and encourage the game of basketball by way of organised competitions at as high a standard as possible.

3. AFFILIATION & REGISTRATION : The League shall be affiliated to England Basketball. Clubs and individuals shall register and subscribe to both England Basketball and the League in the manner laid down by each.

4. MEMBERSHIP : The League shall consist of Honorary Officers, Executive Committee, Affiliated Clubs and Registered Members.
Membership of the League is open to all clubs provided that they accept the Constitution and Rules of the League, so long as they reside in the region of Yorkshire & Humberside and aspire to play at a high level of competition.

5. MANAGEMENT & FINANCE : The League shall delegate the day to day operation and control of its finances to the Executive Committee. The Committee shall be elected at the AGM. The Executive Committee shall comprise of Chairman, League Administrator, Treasurer, Referees Appointments & Technical Officer and Executive Member(s) as required to ensure eight members in total.
The Honorary Officers shall comprise of President, Life Vice-Presidents and Vice-Presidents. The Executive Committee may appoint Sub Committees to deal with specific matters, and co-opt members on to the Committee with or without voting powers. The quorum necessary for business shall be Chairman or League Administrator, and three other members.
Fees for entry to the League and its competitions shall be set out in the League Rules.

6. DISCIPLINE : The Executive Committee shall appoint a Sub-Committee to consider all cases of discipline and to make appropriate decisions where necessary. There shall be the right of appeal, to the Executive Committee, against any decisions made by the appointed Sub Committee. Detailed procedures are set out in the League Rules.

7. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING : At least 14 days notice of the AGM will be given for the meeting normally held in May / June. Items for the agenda shall be logged with the General Secretary no later than one week prior to the AGM.
Honorary Officers, Executive Committee and each member club is entitled to one vote each, Chairman having a second or casting vote.
No member Club is entitled to vote if in financial debt to the League.
Any clubs not present at the AGM will be fined £65.00

8. SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING : An SGM shall be called on a resolution of the Executive Committee or within one month of receipt by the League Administrator of a resolution signed by the authorised representatives of at least four member Clubs.

9. ALTERATION TO THE CONSTITUTION : This may only be done at either an AGM or SGM.

10. DISSOLUTION : In the event of the League ceasing to function, its affairs shall be placed at the disposal of England Basketball.
